Yadatore Sri Yogandeshwara Saraswathi samasthanam in Krishnarajanagar, Mysore District on the banks of Kaveri is one of many institutions that follow Sri Shankara's tradition. Many highly learned ascetics adorned this Peeta, which has a history of more than 700 years. Of them Sri RamaBrahmanda, who installed a very rare idol of Sri Chaturbhuja Pattabhirama and Sri Neelakanteshwara at Holenarasipura on the banks of river Hamavathi, is of legendary fame.
Sri Ramayogabramananda Swamiji, Sri Vasudevanandateertha Swamiji and Shankarananda Swaraswathi Swamiji have made considerable contribution in the development of Peetha.
Sri Sri Ganapathi Bharathi Swamiji who ascended the peeta in 1976 was a science graduate in his Poorvashrama and had deep knowledge in Vedas, Poorvameemamsa and Vedantashastras.He had performed many vedic yagas like Darshapurnamasa yaga, Garudachayana etc., before taking Sanyasa. When he tookover the Math was in a bad shape functionally and in spite of many odds He laid a firm foundation for the efficient and successful functioning of the Peetha.
Sri Shankara Bharathi Swamiji, The present Peethadhipathi, was initiated in to Sanyasa on 12th February 1995 at Sringeri with the benign blessings of Sri Sri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Bharathi Teertha MahaSwamiji of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetha. He has an in-depth Knowledge in Vedas, Literature, Vedantha shastra and the breadth of His exposure and experience is remarkable. A great Sadhaka Himeself, He has in a short span of time given a proper direction to the activities of the Math and has been instrumental in the overall advancement of the Math and has attracted devotees in an unprecedented way by His unswerving attention to the duties an a Sanyasin and Peetadipathi and different projects in Spiritual, Social, Religious and cultural spheres.
